After a week in Gokarna, in a very spacey room and, again, with a big balcony, I went on my journey, I’ve been a little restless lately and hadn’t really found the spot I was looking for.
The beaches (Om, Kudeli etc.) in Gokarna are very beautiful but the only login is palm huts put together in long rows, and you’re very close to your neighbor!
So I stayed in the village and had some good days at Gokarna beach. And some very good Indian food. And it’s always a surprise, when you’ve had meals for 60, 100 or 200Rs, to see the bill after breakfast with tea and idly…9Rs!
A friend I met earlier on this journey had mentioned a place in Kerala, Kannur.
So after a day in Mangalore, I’ve now stayed for three days at a beach called Muzhapilangad, some 15km south of Kannur.
It’s just what I was looking for. A long empty (almost) beach with only one place to stay on 5km. And it’s empty too, apart from me and the guy that runs it and a lady that cooks fantastic food (had mussels in coconut curry yesterday, very delicious!).
A place on the beach. A room with a view and a balcony. Just palm trees and sand between the room and the blue ocean.
And it’s very clean…Even though there are not much people here, there is a large group of women who walks up and down the beach all day and picks up every flake of paper or plastic or other waste. The “Beach Pavilion” where I stay is also spotless. It’s kind of simple here but it’s a very nice atmosphere and the guy has already come down from 1000Rs to 650Rs/night.
And it’s still! Still even though the “sounds of India” is ever present (women banging their laundry on the washing stones, children playing, dogs barking, the sound of the waves and the wind). It’s very tranquil and the sound and the energy of the waves are very soothing.
Here is good for awhile. I will read and rest and do my daily programs of Sadhana (It’s Somatic’s in the morning, 5 Tibetans on the beach before lunch, and meditation and yoga in the afternoon).
I’ve also lately had thoughts about this writing on my homepage. Again my mind wanders to the toothpaste tub…It seems like a lot of toothpaste all over my website now. What to do? Delete it? Close down the website? Wait for even more cold feet? I don’t know! But I’ll let it be for a while…
It’s all “mind” anyway…and “stories”…!
So I’m taking a time out from writing for awhile…
Meanwhile
Om Shanti
